Brint Ryan

Brint Ryan — Chairman, UNT System Board of Regents
Brint Ryan was first appointed to the UNTS Board of Regents in August 2009 and has served as the Board’s Chairman since 2013. His term expires in May 2021. Regent Ryan of Dallas is chairman and CEO of Ryan, LLC. He is a board member of Texas Taxpayers and Research Association and member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Association of Business Executive Committee. Additionally, he is chairman of the Ryan Foundation and former member of the University of North Texas Accounting Advisory Board and the University of North Texas College of Business Advisory Board.

   
Courtny Haning

Courtny Haning
Ms. Haning was appointed to the Board in June 2015 to serve a one year term as the student Regent, with a term expiration of May 31, 2016. She is from Kaufman, Texas, and received her bachelor’s degree with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Courtny is a second year law student at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law and is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association.

   
Milton B. Lee

Milton B. Lee
Mr. Lee was appointed to the Board in May 2013. His term expires in May 2017. Mr. Lee received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a registered professional engineer. He is recently retired as the CEO of CPS Energy, a municipally owned electric and gas company serving San Antonio. Mr. Lee has held a number of prominent positions in the electric utility industry, including serving on the ERCOT Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Committee and the Texas Public Power and Large Public Power Associations. He has also served on several medical research boards and educational foundations in Texas. He lives in San Antonio and works in Austin.

A.K. Mago

A.K. Mago
A.K. Mago of Dallas was appointed to the Board in November of 2015, and his term expires in May 2021. He is chairman and CEO of Mago and Associates, Inc. He is the founding chairman of Greater Dallas Indo American Chamber, now known as the US-INDIA Chamber, board member of the Primary Care Clinic of North Texas, advisory board member of BBVA Compass Bank in Dallas, past district governor of Lion International District 2-X1. Mr. Mago is a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber Board, Salvation Army Advisory Board of Dallas County and the Dallas County Community College District Foundation Board, and is a former board member of 1st Independent National Bank. Additionally, in 2014 he was awarded the Padma Shri Award by the president of India, the Padma Shri Award is the 4th highest civilian award in the Republic of India, rarely conferred on foreigners, and he is a distinguished alumnus of Leadership Dallas. Mr. Mago received a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University, India, and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Dallas.

   
   
Donald Potts, Board of Regents

Donald Potts — Vice Chairman, UNT System Board of Regents
Mr. Potts was appointed to the Board in September 2011. His term expires in May 2017. Mr. Potts is founder of Capital Institutional Services, and an institutional broker and dealer. He is a member of the American and New York Stock exchanges, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Dallas Security Traders Association, and Securities Investors Protection Corporation. He is a member of the Alliance in Support of Independent Research, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, National Center for Policy Analysis, Chief Executive Round Table, Dallas Citizen's Council and UNT President's Council. He is also a board member of the Hope Cottage Foundation. Potts served in the Texas National Guard. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. Mr. Potts lives in Dallas.

Rusty Reid
Mr. Reid was appointed to the Board in July 2013. His term expires in May 2019. He received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Insurance from the University of North Texas. He is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Regent Reid is the president and CEO of Higginbotham and Associates located in Fort Worth, Texas. He has served as the Chairman of the Fort Worth Young Presidents' Organization, a board member of Delta Phi Chapter of Theta Chi, and executive board member for the Community Foundation of North Texas. In addition to many other civic organizations, he is also a member of several insurance industry groups. Mr. Reid lives in Fort Worth.

   
Gwyn Shea

Gwyn Shea
Gwyn Shea was reappointed to the Board in July 2013. Her term expires in May 2019. Shea attended the University of North Texas and Dallas Baptist University and graduated from the Dallas Baptist University Police Academy. She is a certified police officer. Shea served as Texas’ secretary of state — the top elections official in the state — from 2002 to 2003. Elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1982, she represented the Irving area for the next 10 years. She lives in Irving.

   
Al Silva

Al Silva
Mr. Silva was reappointed to the Board in September 2011. His term expires in May 2017. Mr. Silva is COO of Labatt Food Service. He is board chair of Generation Texas, a member of Texas Cavaliers, and past chairman of Episcopal Community Services for the Diocese of West Texas and Alamo Heights Independent School District Board. He is also a past board member of Junior Achievement of San Antonio. Silva received a bachelor's degree from Texas Lutheran College and attended graduate studies at the University of Americas in Mexico. Mr. Silva lives in San Antonio

   
Al Silva

B. Glen Whitley
Mr. Whitley was appointed to the Board in July 2013. His term expires in May 2019. Mr. Whitley has been the Tarrant County Judge since 2006 and a member of the Tarrant County Commissioners Court since 1996. He is co-founder of Whitley Penn CPAs and Professional Consultants. He is a board member and past president of the National Association of Counties and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and a member and past chair of the NCTCOG Regional Transportation Council. He also is a member of the Texas Association of Counties, Texas Indigent Defense Commission and the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council. He is past chair of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties. Whitley served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and has an accounting degree from University of Texas Arlington. He lives in Hurst.

   
Laura Wright

Laura Wright
Laura Wright of Dallas was appointed to the Board in November of 2015, and her term expires in May 2021. She retired after 25 years with Southwest Airlines Co., the last eight of which she served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance. Currently, she is a strategic and financial consultant with GSB Advisory, L.L.C. Ms. Wright is a member of the board of directors and audit committee chair for Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and TE Connectivity. She also serves on the Board of Directors for CMS Energy and Daseke, Inc. Ms. Wright is a former trustee, audit committee chair, governance chair and executive committee member of the University of North Texas Foundation and former member of the University of North Texas Business School Advisory Board. Additionally, she is a member of the Texas State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Wright received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of North Texas.
