Before joining the UNT System Administration in 2015, Christopher DeClerk, , DM, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP, GRP, was Director of Total Rewards for Hypertherm, an employee-owned global company that designs and builds industrial cutting products for use in shipbuilding, oil and gas and other manufacturing areas. While at Hypertherm, DeClerk managed areas responsible for executive compensation, global salary strategies and tactics, HRIS and global benefits including on-site health care and wellness services. Prior to joining Hypertherm, DeClerk was director of Total Rewards for Hilti North America, an international manufacturing firm named the 15th Best Global Place to Work by Great Place to Work.
He also held several positions at RadioShack Corporation in Fort Worth when RadioShack was a $4.4 billion retail network with 4,670 stores and approximately 35,000 employees. DeClerk’s positions included Divisional HR Director, Retail Compensation Manager, District Manager/HR Generalist and several operations roles. He led teams who coordinated benefits, compensation, recruiting, talent management, employee relations, and employee opinion research.
DeClerk received a bachelor of science in International Business Studies degree from Arkansas State University, a master's degree in psychology from American Public University and a MBA and Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership degrees from the University of Phoenix. He is an adjunct faculty member at American Public University and the University of Phoenix and has been teaching online since 2004.
He holds a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). He also is a certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and certified Global Remunerations Professional (GRP) by WorldatWork, the Total Rewards Association. He has several certifications in teaching, leadership, and human resources management.
