May 10, 2019 – University of North Texas System Chancellor Lesa Roe today announced the upcoming departure of Chief Financial Officer/Vice Chancellor for Finance Gary Rahlfs, effective May 24. Rahlfs will depart the UNT System after 14 months to pursue a new opportunity in the corporate sector.

James Mauldin, the UNT System’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Treasury, will assume the role of Interim Chief Financial Officer on May 24. Chancellor Roe will begin a national search for a full-time Chief Financial Officer immediately.

“Gary made a big impact on our finance operation in a short amount of time and will be sorely missed – he is a team-oriented leader who brought a fresh perspective to the UNT System and has been a great strategic partner for me,” said Chancellor Roe. “James Mauldin, our Associate Vice Chancellor for Treasury since 2015, has public sector experience as a CFO and we appreciate his willingness to step in and lead the UNT System finance team on an interim basis while we conduct a national search.”
