Vice Chancellor & General Counsel Nancy Footer To Retire; Alan Stucky To Fill Interim Role While Search Is Conducted

University of North Texas System Chancellor Lesa Roe today announced that Nancy Footer, Vice Chancellor & General Counsel, will retire, effective Jan. 3, 2020. Alan Stucky, Senior Associate General Counsel, will immediately begin serving as Interim Vice Chancellor & General Counsel while a national search is conducted for the cabinet-level position.

“We are grateful to Nancy for her tremendous service to our system and universities over the past 15 years, and we also appreciate her willingness to assist Alan Stucky in his transition to Interim Vice Chancellor & General Counsel,” Roe said. “With Alan now in place as our interim leader for legal matters, we are confident that the Office of General Counsel will continue its important work as we conduct a national search. Alan recently won our Chancellor’s Excellence Award for his exemplary work and he is well-respected throughout UNT World.”  

Stucky has represented and served the UNT System and its universities since 2004. Previously he worked as in-house counsel and risk manager for Hillcrest Health System in Waco, and was also in private practice with Dunnam & Dunnam, LLP, in Waco, as well as with Brown & Fortunato, P.C., in Amarillo. He received his J.D. from Baylor University Law School and his B.S. from Bethel College.  In addition, Stucky has been an adjunct professor since 2006, teaching various business law courses in UNT’s G. Brint Ryan College of Business.
