Student Regent

Alexandra (Alex) Harrel of Corpus Christi, was appointed to the Board in 2019, and her term expires on May 31, 2020.

Regent Harrel received her Bachelor of Arts in English in 2016 from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she was an active participant in The National Society of Leadership and Success and served as President of the Islander Catholic Student Organization. She was an officer for the Honors Student Association and participated in the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Honors Program. Regent Harrel also studied abroad in Scotland with the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi English Department in July 2014.

As a current graduate student at UNT, Regent Harrel is pursuing a Master’s of Higher Education in Student Affairs. She works as a Graduate Assistant to Orientation and Transition Programs-Transfer Center, supporting programs and initiatives as well as coordinating events for transfer students to UNT. She also remains an active member of Phi Kappa Phi, the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International, and is the Treasurer for the Association of Graduate Students in Higher Education.

Prior to attending UNT, Regent Harrel was active in her community where she became co-founder of the Awakening Retreat for the Newman Centers of Texas A&M University Kingsville and Corpus Christi and led community engagement events with the Islander Catholic Student Organization to communicate organization needs to Texas A&M University and the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
