Jessica F. Armstead of Desoto was appointed to the Board in June 2021 and her term expires on May 31, 2022.
Regent Armstead graduated from Dallas College Mountain View Campus in May 2020 and transferred to the University of North Texas at Dallas in August 2020. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies with a minor in Business Management. Regent Armstead’s professional aspiration is to use her degrees to open nonprofit group homes and after school programs.
Regent Armstead is a proud member of the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program where she is conducting research on the effects of adolescents in low-income families receiving social support. She is an active leader on campus, serving as the President of UNT Dallas’ Student Government Association, Vice President of The First-Generation Club, and Vice President of the Campus Activity Board. She also serves on UNT System’s Equity in Student Success (EiSS) Coalition and is a member of the DFW Black Child Development Institute. In Summer 2019, Regent Armstead studied abroad in France learning about the 17 Worldwide Sustainable Development Goals.
Regent Armstead currently works as the Team Lead for student workers in the Student Affairs department at UNT Dallas. In addition, she is completing two internships for the DFW CARES Mentoring Movement and the Dallas TRHT Black Women in Non-Profit Leadership group.
