University of North Texas System Chancellor Lesa Roe today announced that Dr. Rosemary Haggett, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Student Success, will retire, effective July 30, 2021. Dr. Haggett joined the UNT System in 2010 after serving as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Toledo.

“Rosemary Haggett has been a key leader for the UNT System for more than a decade – not only in her role as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Student Success, but also as the Board Secretary for our Regents,” Chancellor Roe said. “We are deeply grateful to Rosemary for her tremendous service to our system and universities.”

Dr. Jamaica Chapple, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Success Initiatives, will assume the role of Interim Vice Chancellor. Dr. Chapple previously spent eight years serving UNT Dallas – most recently as Associate Vice President of Student Access & Success and Dean of Students. She is a behavioral scientist and board certified licensed clinician. Dr. Chapple holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Louisiana Monroe, and a Ph.D. in counseling and supervision from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“We are appreciative of Jamaica Chapple’s expertise and willingness to fill the role of Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Student Success and Board Secretary,” Chancellor Roe said. “Jamaica brings her own unique perspective and skillset to the position as a former Dean of Students and licensed counselor with expertise in mental health.”
