DALLAS – Hayden Wochele, a senior at the University of North Texas at Dallas, recently was appointed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to serve as the student regent on the UNT System Board of Regents.

He will serve a one-year term through May 31, 2026. Wochele will represent the interests of all students within the UNT System while attending and participating in UNT System Board of Regents business and meetings.

Wochele is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at UNT Dallas. Applications for student regent are annually solicited through the student government and forwarded to the governor by the chancellor for final appointment. The student regent position is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at any institution within a university system.

Wochele serves as the Transfer Student Body Senator of the UNT Dallas Student Government Association (SGA). He was motivated to join the SGA so he could represent his fellow students. From the first time Wochele stepped foot in a food pantry, he has been passionately dedicated to volunteerism and community service. He leads with his mission of creating lasting, positive change that spreads happiness, compassion, and prosperity for everybody.
