Renaldo L. Stowers

Deputy General Counsel & System Administration Chief Compliance Officer

Renaldo was named Chief Compliance Officer for the UNT System Administration in 2022. Along with the Director of Compliance & Ethics, Renaldo is responsible for designing and maintaining a strategic-focused compliance and ethics program that effectively promotes a culture of ethical decision-making, behavior and compliance with applicable laws, Regents Rules, System Regulations and System Administration policies.

Renaldo received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Commission in the U.S. Army from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law. Renaldo served in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery officer before transferring to the Judge Advocate General Corps, where he served assignments as a senior criminal defense attorney and as a chief prosecutor. Before coming to the UNT System, Renaldo was a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas Office of the Attorney General.  

Steve Hill, Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional

Director of Compliance & Ethics

Steve was named Director of Compliance & Ethics for the UNT System Administration in December 2022. Steve is responsible for designing, and the day-to-day operation of a strategic-focused compliance and ethics program that effectively promotes a culture of ethical decision-making, behavior and compliance with applicable laws, Regents Rules, System Regulations and System Administration policies.

Steve received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education in Business Administration and his Dual M.B.A. in International and Human Resource Management at Wayland Baptist University, San Antonio, Texas. Steve retired from the U.S. Army in Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), Texas, as a First Sergeant in the Finance Corps. Steve’s worldwide assignments include Cash/Treasury Check Disbursement Officer, Course Director at the Army’s Finance School, Auditor, Chief-Internal Audit, and First Sergeant at two major Finance Commands. Before coming to UNT in December 2007 as Director of Institutional Compliance, Steve was a Compliance Coordinator at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.     

 

Alice Hawes

Public Information Coordinator & Paralegal

Alice was named UNT System Public Information Coordinator and a paralegal in 2016, and previously served as a Legal Secretary since 2012. As the Coordinator, she administers day-to-day operation of the Public Information Program for the UNT System and its component institutions. Alice is responsible for responding to requests for public information, ensuring compliance with the Texas Public Information Act, serving as a liaison with the Office of the Attorney General Open Records Division, analyzing data, and conducting factual and legal research. In addition, to her Coordinator responsibilities, Alice supports the UNT System Office of General Counsel and UNT System Administration Compliance & Ethics Program.

Alice received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Texas and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from Southern Methodist University.  Alice also has worked at Denton County MHMR in Medical Records and as the Local Authority Team Leader.
